Prelims will take place Saturday after classes and before the dance. Finals will take place during Saturday's Dance. Stay tuned for schedule and sign-up information.

Must have a Full Weekend or After 6:30PM Pass to enter contest.

Must attend the Competitors Meeting on Saturday, October 2nd at 7PM.

Sign-up will be at the Friday Night Dance. Time TBA.

BLUES BATTLE

This is a contest specially crafted by the L.A. Blues Team! That's great...so what is it?

Blues Battle is a TEAM COMPETITION. Teams MUST consist of FOUR MEMBERS - two leads and two follows and only SIX TEAMS will be able to sign-up. And if this seems confusing, CHECK OUT THE VIDEOS BELOW!

PRELIMS
Round A - Choreographed Dance to the SAME PRE-DETERMINED SONG for ALL teams
TWO of the six teams will compete at the same time. . afterall, this is STILL a battle. The first two teams to go head-to-head will send out their first set of lead and follow.

The lead and follow from each team will dance (at the same time) to the SAME PRE-DETERMINED SONG (Saint James Infirmary by Sammy Price from Boogie & Jazz Classics) and each team will be alloted half of the available dance space.

The lead/follow from each team that is not dancing will be judged on their ability to energize the audience and advance the performance of their teammates . . afterall it is a TEAM COMPETITION.

There will be three heats to Round Two to allow for all six teams.

Round B - Social Dance to (UNannounced) DJ's CHOICE
TWO of the six teams will compete at the same time. . afterall, this is a BATTLE. The first two teams to go head-to-head will send out their remaining lead and follow - The remaining lead and follow from each team will compete in Round Two.

The lead and follow from each team will dance (at the same time) to a song of the DJ's choice. Each team will be alloted half of the available dance space.

The lead/follow from each team that is not dancing will also be judged on their ability to energize the audience and advance the performance of their teammates . . afterall it is a TEAM COMPETITION.

There will be three heats to Round Two to allow for all six teams.

Scores from both rounds will be added and the top two teams will advance to the finals.

FINALS
Ok, ignore everything that happened in the prelims. The finals is where the real battle begins!

It's the FINALS and down to TWO TEAMS - only ONE can be the WINNER! "In Battle Fashion" the goal of the final is not only to one up the opposing team, but also for the teammates on the sidelines to pump up the audience and support their performing team members.

Each team will be alloted half of the available dance space and the music will be DJs choice. There will be alternating segments of solo dance and partnered dance, two segments of each, seperated by a buzzer/bell. There will be no pause in the music and all members of each team must participate in at least one segment of the final round.

Scores will be added and the WINNER of the BLUES BATTLE announced!!

RULES

All team members must have a Full Weekend or After 6:30PM Pass to enter contest.

Teams must include other members names and team color in the note field when paying for registration. Teams MUST wear this color for the contest. (If the same color has been chosen by two teams, the second team to choose that color will be asked to pick a new color.)

$5 entry fee per person. Sign-up and payment is available with registration on a first PAY, first serve basis. All team members must complete Full Weekend/After 6:30PM Pass Registration for Team Registration to be complete. Teams will be emailed to confirm completed registration and participation in the contest.

Must attend the Competitors Meeting on Sunday, October 3rd at 7PM.
